SCAD-ATL Broadcast Design Club
Posted by admin | Filed under art, life
We had our first Broadcast Design and Motion Graphics Club meeting today. It was very exciting with all the ideas that will come out of this group. I also got appointed as the Web Master, for my mad Worspress skills. (Not really, I voluntered) hehe
We had over 20 students attend and I know of many more that wish they could have been there, so hopefully they can come next time. We decided as a group that we will meet every 2 weeks, so Wednesday, October 22nd, in Room 307 at 8pm, is the next time we’ll meet. (It is the second classroom, behind the oval classrooms as you take a right off the elevator, on the 3rd floor.)
For our next meeting we will be discussing the group name ideas that members are asked to come up with. Also tshirt ideas, fundraisers, and more. So make sure you stop by next time if you can
The Most Amazing Etsy find

It seems like once a month or so, Etsy.com does a Homemade Portrait Feature of a certain person on the site. I always watch these through the Etsy Podcast on iTunes from time to time. Well, this is by far the most amazing hand work I have ever seen done with wood. Watch for yourself!
The Braves won!
Posted by admin | Filed under life
Last Thursday me, Andy, Nendel, and Chris went to see the Braves. Andy’s parents gave us their tickets and they were super close and super sweet! I felt u could just reach out and touch them. There were also people that came done to take our order, and then they would bring us the food. It was awsome. I don’t know much about baseball, but the boys were very nice explaining it to me. The game went by so fast it seemed like and the Braves won!
There was also this weird bug that came and sat on andy’s knee for a good 10 mind until we finally flicked it off. It was weird. LOL

SCAM ALERT!

‘98 BMW M3 Convertible - $4000!
Sounds to good to be true…right? Well, that’s because it is. I know, a girl can dream can’t she.
So, it all started when I was on craigslist today. When I’m really bored, I’ll go through car listings, and dream about the drift car I wish I had. Right, so I came upon a post that had this car listed in Atlanta, GA for $4000. Andy laughed and said, “Either that’s a scam, or there is seriously something wrong with it”. Being the bargain shopper I am, I didn’t just want to assume a scam, so I emailed the person. Nothing to loose, right?
She emailed me back very quickly with this reply in Engrish,
“Hello,
First of all I want to thank you for your interest for my car. I sell at this price($4,000) because i just finished the divorce with my husband. When the divorce has finished i own this car. Now as a women i don’t need. This car is in excellent working conditions, no scratches, flaws or any kind of damage, slightly used in 100% working and looking conditions and comes with a clear title. Has 75,000 miles VIN# : WBSBK033XWEC39135
From the beginning you have to know that for the payment I request only secure pay, I prefer the payment to be done using eBay services. We will use a safe payment method because I am affiliated at eBay and I have a purchase protection account for $20.000. The final price that I want for this car is $4,000 including shipping and handling. If you are interested in buying it please provide me your full name and address so I can initiate the deal through eBay.
I will wait your answer(if you are interested to buy) very soon
Regards.

Now, first of all, the Engrish really gave it away, but still I wasn’t convinced that it could be a scam. I thought that maybe she ment to say Paypal, and not Ebay, because Ebay sure as hell doesn’t offer any $20,000 coverage (that I know of). And second of all, how do you do business off Ebay, without listing an item? So naturally I went looking on Ebay to see if she stole someone’s Ebay listing pics, and posted it on her photobucket. I didn’t find anything. Then I looked closer to the pictures.
If you go here, http://i41.photobucket.com/albums/e292/mycar2000 , you’ll actually will find her whole account with numerous photos of different cars. Well, no one has that many cars. And if they do, they would all be taken at the same house, not 5 or so different houses. So that obviously threw up a big flag.
Then I went back to craigslist, to see if I can find the listing for the car. I noticed before that she mentioned shipping and handling charges. I thought that was weird, since it was listed locally as Atlanta. So, not to my surprise, the listing all of a sudden disappeared of craigslist. Red flag number 2!
Then I remembered that she put the Vin # for the car, in the email. So if I find two cars with the same Vin #, then I’ll definitely know it’s fake. Or if I find the actual listing that these pictures were stolen from..
and I did…red flag number 3!
http://www.carad.com/status/ShowroomViewVehicle.cfm?listing=9715613
Mission complete!
Avoid scams by doing the following:
1) Check the information from the original listing to the email.
2) Check to find the source from where the pictures are listed online, that the person sent you.
3) Ask for the Vin #, and if sent, do a search.
Hope this helps others from being scammed! Oh, and a common courtesy would be to email the owner of the original listing to let him know that someone is using his information to scam people. I did, and I’ll let you know what he says. ![]()
Walmart: The High Cost of a Low Price
Posted by admin | Filed under movies, reviews
Today I found OnDemand on my Comcast Cable Box, and there is a section for Free Movies! I found the Documentary of Walmart: The High Cost of a Low Price. I’ve always heard people saying Walmart is evil, but I’d always brush the comments off because they couldn’t provide me with proof to back up their statement…UNTIL NOW.
I’m so glad I’m sitting here watching this documentary. It’s shocking! I’m glad someone finally took the time to sit down and put together all the facts of why Walmart is evil, and I don’t know what is more shocking: The fact that 90% of the people talking is current or ex-Walmart employees, or how all the employees are cheated out of pay, health insurance, and how many tax payers money Walmart is literately stealing from us. I’m completely shocked!
When I worked at American Eagle Outfitters they did very similar things to me all the time, and it wasn’t until the other day that I realized how common it was for employers to push these rules on their employees. I worked almost 55 hours a week at American Eagle, and couldn’t figure out why my check never seemed right. I was considered a part-time employee, so working that many hours was insane. I was trying to prove to my managers that I had managerial qualities, and she always told me that I still need to prove myself. Naturally, I kept working more and more, and somehow my check always seemed to be cut exactly at 40 hours. I realized quickly that my managers would cut my overtime hours from the one paycheck to the next so I wouldn’t be payed overtime, and so they wouldn’t get written up by their district managers.
My store manager also asked me numerous times if she could pay me with clothes, for example: “Lieze, I really need you to stay to help finish this floor set, otherwise we’re screwed, but I can’t put you as overtime. My district manager will write me up if I do! Will it be ok if I give you a free pair of jeans if you stay two more hours?” I KNEW that was wrong, and illegal, and I always kindly said, “No! I need my money to pay bills, and for school.”
Take Note: I only worked for $7.50 and hour, and was the highest Part-Time employee in the Store.
I am sick of constantly being used, and pushed by employers and money sucking evil companies, and have a new philosophy after working for many Companies that has miss treated me over the last several years. I look back at it as a learning curve. No employer, or High School teaches you your working rights. They expect you to know it, or maybe they are glad you don’t know it, so they can take advantage of you and make you feel that it is a part of your job and you’re required to do so.
Believe me! I am an extremely hard worker, and will always be ready to stay later, and do everything in my will to get the job done. The only thing I ask as an employee is to be treated fairly by law, and not be taken advantage of, because of my hard work and welcome smile.
Please watch Walmart: The High Cost of a Low Price

If you have been treated wrongly by any Company, MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD! Speak up, and tell me what happened. You have rights!

Post Office
Posted by admin | Filed under life, reviews
U know there is one place in the world that u can go where u know u will always wait, which can b quite annoying: The Post Office. I just recently moved with Andy to a nice town called Lawrenceville. And without fail like every town in GA, the post office was located in historic downtown lawrenceville, which is not only a pain in the ass to find bc of the way the old steets are designed. It also means there is barely 15 parking spots to pick from to park, and only 2 people working with well over 30 people waiting. Pretty annoying! I would use the automated service but it only works for expensive mail like priority shipping, not media mail. Oh sweet! A 3rd person just walked out! Go America!

Disney Coffee Mugs on SALE
Posted by admin | Filed under reviews, sale
Last week I stopped by The Disney Store, and they had a large collection of coffee mugs on sale for $3.99 each! The are super cute, but not as good quality then the one I bought at Walt Disney World in Orlando for $9.99. Either way they are an unbeatable price and don’t leak like my boyfriend’s $10 starbucks cup. Another draw back about the cup is that it cannot be washed in the dishwasher, so I have 2 hand wash it everytime. hehe lazy me :).
